About Me
To share a little bit about myself, I am married to my wonderful wife Sarah, and we have 2 amazing teenaged daughters, Ella and Ava. We live in Minnesota and we love to do anything outdoors, even in the winter! As far as my professional side of life, I worked in exercise physiology and cardiac rehab in Wisconsin, after graduating with my Bachelors Degree of Science from Central Michigan University in 2002. After 3 years, I went back to school to become a Registered Nurse at the University of Minnesota. I worked in the hospital setting in cardiac intensive care and cardiac step down units for about 3 more years, while I attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota. I graduated in 2008 with a Masters Degree in Nursing, specializing as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. I then passed, and currently hold board certification through the AANC as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner.

I've been in my same position in Geriatrics since 2008, and intend to continue this. My role is a lot different than most. Instead of the typical office/clinic job, being rushed through patients like most Nurse practitioners, or physicians or physician's assistants are, I go out to the patients. I joke with patients that my car is my office. I see geriatric patients where they live, in the nursing homes and in the assisted livings. I also have a large short term rehab practice. Short term rehab is also referred to as transitional care, or swing bed in some areas. This is the patient population that was hospitalized, improving, but still either to ill, or to weak to go back home yet. With this work environment, I end up being able to help a very complex, and ill population of people, and in doing so, I have gained extensive experience over the last many years. There is seldom a day that goes by, that I don't ask a patient, "So, do you think you take too many medications?", The answer, without a pause from them is almost always "YES".
